Possibility of utilization of textile waste for modern insulation materials production
Břicháček, Pavel ; Kout, Pavel (referee) ; Zach, Jiří (advisor)
Old clothes are hardly recyclable waste that ends mostly in incinerators or landfills for municipal waste. The present thesis aims to evaluate the possibility of using this waste in the building industry, specifically for the production of thermal and acoustic insulation materials. The scope of work is to map the raw material base in the Czech Republic, examining the appropriateness of using various kinds of textile fibers and determination of optimal technologies for recycling and bonding. On the product, made on the basis of theoretical findings are set out basic thermal insulation and acoustic properties.
Fair trade cotton on the czech market
FUČÍKOVÁ, Michaela
The theoretical part deals with system fair trade, cultivate and produce of fair trade and organic cotton. Following there are describe standards for small fair trade cotton producers and fair trade textile standard. There are presented some czech producers of organic cotton and some fair trade cotton farmers. An essential part of the thesis is questionnaires completed by former employees compared to available archive documentation.
Technical aspects of measurement using IR spectrophotometer Buck 500
STEHLÍK, Radim
The work deals with IR spectrophotometry and technical aspects of IR spectrophotom-eter Buck 500. The first chapter of the theoretical part is dedicated to textiles produced from natural fibres. The chapter carries out a survey concerning cotton measured further in the experimental part. The second chapter describes IR spectrophotometry principle. It brings the basic terminology, for instance transmittance, absorbance, wavelength, wave-speed, etc. The next chapter of the theoretical part is focused on the description of basic components of IR spectrophotometer Buck 500. The theoretical part further explains the methods used for analysis of solid agents (KBr, ATR). The experimental part provides a comprehensive overview on how to install, operate and maintain the instrument as well as its compatibility with IT technology. It further describes the process of gaining spectra using GRAMS/AI programmes. The next chapter describes the spectra measurement methods on IR spectrophotometer Buck 500. The work mentions the process of KBr tablets production. The last chapter deals with the evaluation and interpretation of individual spectra based on the number of peaks with respect to wave-speed. The final part points out the difference between modified and non-modified cotton.
Development of Bt Cotton supply
Pokorný, Lukáš
This bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of genetically modified crops, particularly Bt cotton and its adoption in Burkina Faso. At first, the influence of various aspects of globalization and multinational corporations' activities on developing countries is described. It is followed by information about both traditional cotton and Bt-cotton and its cultivation. Furthermore, the basic methods of plant hybridization including genetic modification are introduced. Finally, the impacts of Bt cultivation in Burkina Faso economy are analysed.

Development of International Trade in Selected Products of the Textile Industry and Its Future
Kahánek, Cyril ; Plchová, Božena (advisor) ; Hanzlíková, Helena (referee)
This thesis is focused on development of textile industry and international trade with silk and cotton of the first decade of the 21st century. First chapter contains overview of the main theories of international trade from classical economics to monetary economics. In the second chapter we will familiarize ourselves with the trade history on the silk routes, stretching all the way from China to the Mediterranean Sea. Next chapters are dedicated to the analysis. In the third chapter it is analysis of the textile industry and international trade with silk and cotton throughout 2000--2011. The fourth chapter analyzes products of textile industry in terms group 65 of the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC).
Analýza zavedení Bt bavlny do Indie
Staníková, Monika
The main aim of this Bachelor thesis is to analyse Bt cotton in India and explore its economic and social impacts. The first part of this bachelor thesis deals with genetically modified organisms, discusses their risks and benefits, and there is also a brief description of the political, economic and social development of India. The second part is focused on cotton in India, especially on the introduction of genetically modified Bt cotton to the Indian market. There is described the transformation of production, international trade of India with cotton and impacts on the economic and social conditions of farmers. Based on the previous analysis, the final part provides recommendations to improve the cotton production in India.
Cotton Industry and the Civil War in the USA
Tomeš, Pavel ; Tajovský, Ladislav (advisor) ; Chalupecký, Petr (referee)
The topic of this work is production of raw cotton in USA before the civil war. Cotton growing is typical industry, in which slave labour has been used. Cotton production in the second half of 19th century was important industry worldwide. This is the reason why I use this industry to analyze slavery. Some slaves had higher level of nourishment than some free labourers in the North. This is the reason why I focus on calculation of costs, which were paid for use a slave labour. I make a cost analysis of cotton production and I also calculate income of this production. In opposite this situation I create a hypothetical model situation. In this model would plantation owners employ free labourers. Results of this model I compare with costs of war which were paid by South. This way I figure out motivations for South to make war and defend slavery. By analytic method and theoretical model I gain better picture of slave plantations and importance of slavery for whole southern economy. JEL classification N310, N410, N510, J230, J320
